Here he explains what effects the hidden subsidies have.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">By Malte Biss<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Bundesumweltministerin Steffi Lemke will mit einer Plastikabgabe die Nachfrage nach Rezyklaten, also nach Produkten, die aus recycelten Materialien gewonnen werden, ankurbeln. So eine Ma\u00dfnahme k\u00f6nnen wir von flustix nur unterst\u00fctzen. Wir stehen daf\u00fcr ein, m\u00f6glichst viel Material im Kreislauf zu halten und so einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Klimaschutz zu leisten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Die Recyclingquoten in Deutschland sind viel zu niedrig. Nur etwas mehr als die H\u00e4lfte der recycelbaren Kunststoffe wird verwertet. Klingt gar nicht so schlecht? Ist es aber. Denn auch Kunststoff-Abf\u00e4lle, die ins Nicht-EU-Ausland verkauft und dort m\u00f6glicherweise illegal und nicht fachgerecht entsorgt werden, flie\u00dfen hier in die Recyclingquote mit ein. Damit schrumpft die Menge der tats\u00e4chlich bei uns vor Ort wieder verwerteten Kunststoff-Abf\u00e4lle auf eine ganz d\u00fcnne Marge. Die Sch\u00e4tzungen variieren zwischen zehn und 15 Prozent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Auch hier arbeitet Ministerin Lemke an L\u00f6sungen. Sie will den M\u00fcll-Export verbieten. Gut so, denn das Ziel muss sein, die Kreislaufwirtschaft regional umzusetzen, statt Hunderttausende Tonnen Plastikm\u00fcll \u00fcber die Weltmeere zu transportieren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Bleibt noch die andere H\u00e4lfte an recycelf\u00e4higen Kunststoffen, die einfach so im Restm\u00fcll landet. Hier liegt eine Ursache bei der fehlerhaften Trennung in den privaten Haushalten sowie im Alltag, zum Beispiel bei Verpackungen von unterwegs verzehrten Speisen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Die meisten Menschen sammeln ihre wiederverwertbaren Abf\u00e4lle \u2013 ich nenne sie lieber Rohstoffe \u2013 doch damit ist es nicht getan. Nehmen wir die Packung, in der Aufschnitt steckt: K\u00f6rper und Deckel sind aus unterschiedlichen Kunststoffen. Werden diese beiden Elemente vorm Entsorgen nicht getrennt, kann der hochwertigere Verpackungs-K\u00f6rper in der Sortieranlage kaum verwertet werden, landet im schlechtesten Fall im Restm\u00fcll. Oder der Deckel einer Plastikflasche \u2013 auch hier braucht es Trennung, denn die Materialien, aus denen Flasche und Verschluss hergestellt werden, sind unterschiedliche Kunststoffe. Nur eine sortenreine Trennung hilft uns weiter, ist effektiv und klimaschonend.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Did you know that? Do you pay attention when you separate your waste?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Very few people do &#8211; because they don&#8217;t know. Business is moving, changing packaging and printing notices on products. But we need more! We need a large-scale education campaign. A campaign that tells us how everyone can help improve plastic recycling rates with a few simple steps. Education via ads in newspapers, TV commercials, on all social media platforms &#8211; the full program. After all, recycling is something that concerns us all, and glass, paper and metal show that it works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 120%;\">Yes, that&#8217;s right, a campaign like this costs money. Don&#8217;t we have it? Yes we do! Did you know that the production of new plastics in Germany is still massively subsidized with tax money? Crude oil is needed for production &#8211; and unlike all other mineral oil purchases, this one is tax-free for producers. The industry saved around 780 million euros in 2013, according to the results of a study, that was officially confirmed by the Federal Environment Agency. Since then, nothing has changed in practice, nor has the production volume decreased. So we must continue to assume that the state may be foregoing almost a billion euros in tax revenue in order to produce more fresh plastic.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-size: 120%;\"><strong>This is nonsense. Because instead of newly produced material, recycled material should be subsidized. Stopping these hidden subsidies and redistributing the money would possibly be much easier and more efficient than creating a new levy, as now proposed by Minister Lemke.
