Clear, transparent and enforceable criteria are needed to preserve the innovative intention of the SUPD.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-341d9e64efc443e689ef23b2e2852ad7\"><strong>The full submission to the SUPD evaluation can be found here within the EU \u201cHave Your Say\u201d process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-primary-1-background-color has-background has-text-align-center wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/14422-Rules-on-single-use-plastics-and-fishing-gear-evaluation-\/F33382432_en\" style=\"border-radius:5px;text-transform:uppercase\">Read the post<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div style=\"height:58px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The practical reality across Europe is already showing clear inconsistencies:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\u26a0 Several legal proceedings concerning SUPD implementation are currently pending in Germany.<br \/>\u26a0 The Netherlands has abandoned its former \u201c0.0% approach\u201d and is now re-evaluating the previous methodology.<br \/>\u26a0 France withdrew its 0.1% threshold due to practical non-feasibility and is likewise reassessing its approach.<br \/>\u26a0 In Poland, according to the current situation, identical products are being assessed differently depending on the region \u2014 products accepted in the north are in some cases rejected in the south.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The result<\/strong> is a fragmented regulatory landscape \u2014 in some cases even within individual Member States.<\/p>\n\n<p>For businesses, authorities and consumers alike, this situation is neither practical nor sustainable in the long term.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:53px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our proposal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>Therefore, we call for<\/strong> 1. a comprehensive, EU-wide harmonised quantitative threshold, combined with 2. an analytically verifiable assessment logic as well as 3. a stronger alignment with actual recycling realities and circular economy principles. Instead of \u201c0.0% interpretations\u201d, there is a need for 4. clear, transparent and enforceable criteria that can be applied consistently and independently verified.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fibre-based solutions<\/strong> containing minimal, technically unavoidable polymer fractions should not be regulated in the same way as conventional plastic-dominant single-use products.<\/p>\n\n<p>From our perspective, a harmonised quantitative approach is essential, for: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>authorities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>consumers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>legal certainty in enforcement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the promotion of innovation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a functioning European single market <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>and, above all, for the environment. Only clear, harmonised and practically verifiable rules can ensure consistent and effective implementation across Europe.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Most importantly<\/strong>, the necessary technical and regulatory foundations already exist, including standardised analytical methods, established recycling processes and independent third-party verification.<\/p>\n\n<p>We welcome further technical exchange with industry, the recycling sector, the paper and packaging industries, authorities and additional stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:97px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-primary-1-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-8df21347e4fff45f72ef204cda71b20c\"><strong>About flustix<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The organisation, founded in Berlin in 2017, offers six distinct flustix seals: The\u00a0<strong>flustix LESS PLASTICS \u2013 MIN. xx% PLASTIC-FREE<\/strong>\u00a0seals certify, in collaboration with recognised testing laboratories and accredited certification bodies, the entire product as well as either its packaging or the product itself. The\u00a0<strong>flustix RECYCLED\u00a0<\/strong>trustmark certifies recyclates, semi-finished goods, and products with recycled content, including plastics, metals, and glass.\u00a0<strong>flustix RECYCLABLE<\/strong>\u00a0independently communicates the recyclability of packaging.
