An octagonal glass decanter with a history that spans from 19th century Russia to a Connecticut corporation — and one of the most elegant promotional bottles Smirnoff ever produced. This 1972 Tava vodka decanter by Owens-Illinois Glass is a genuine Mid-Century Modern beauty: eight clean flat panels on the body, a matching octagonal stopper, and four rounded pour spouts at the collar that make decanting a genuine pleasure.
The bottom is embossed "Liquor Bottle, 65 8 72" along with the Owens-Illinois logo. The stopper retains its original cork. Originally sold with Ste. Pierre Smirnoff's Tava liqueur — their tagline at the time read: "At Ste. Pierre Smirnoff Fls., we've been making vodka for 150 years. Tava is the only liqueur that bears our name." Now empty and ready for a new life on your bar cart.
A wonderful gift for the dad who appreciates clean design, spirits history, and barware that earns its place on the shelf.
Smirnoff's story begins in 1818 when Pierre Smirnoff started producing vodka in Russia under his surname. After the Bolshevik Revolution, the family fled to Poland and eventually sold the American rights to Rudolph Kunett, who established Ste. Pierre Smirnoff in New York in 1934 — making it one of the first vodka brands sold commercially in the United States. The registered trademark includes the original Russian medals granted in 1877, 1882, 1886, and 1889.

Brand: Ste. Pierre Smirnoff / Tava / Owens-Illinois Glass
    Vintage: 1972
Dimensions: 9.5" tall (with stopper) | approx. 4.5" diameter | holds 750ml (approx. 25 oz)
