Press release: DIN-verified certification for recyclers offers assurance and competitive advantages

Berlin, July 2020. Since April 2019 flustix has been giving consumers and companies DIN-verified certainty about regranulates and the recyclate content of products – with the flustix RECYCLED seal. Until now the combined mark from flustix and DIN CERTCO focused on certifying goods produced entirely or partly from plastic recyclate. Now flustix, together with DIN CERTCO, is going a step further: alongside the share of recyclate in products and in regranulates, regrind and flakes can now be certified as well. flustix thereby offers even greater transparency for consumers and important sales arguments for companies pursuing a sustainability-oriented strategy.

With this expanded offering, flustix is addressing recycling companies in particular.

For them the update means that they can guarantee their trading partners – including producers of semi-finished goods and end products – DIN-verified certainty about the origin and type of the recyclate. For recyclers the certification represents a clear competitive advantage, because certainty about the declaration offers an enormous benefit to packaging manufacturers among others: they save a step in the audit process and can therefore have their goods independently certified more quickly, more easily and more reliably.

“Our mission is to keep reducing the production of new plastics and to promote the use of recyclate. That is why we are now focusing even more strongly on the first step – the processing of recyclate. With independent and credible certification we create incentives at this early stage to use genuine, good and safe recyclate. In doing so we encourage a truly sustainable material loop,” says Malte Biss, founder of flustix. “So that companies continue to rely on recyclate even in the current, challenging situation, we have reduced our fees and are also offering favourable licence fee tiers without the right to use the mark, for manufacturers of regranulate, flakes and/or regrind.” flustix provides an overview of the new terms online.

The new option is already winning over the trade and finding its way to the point of sale: recyclers such as Kruschitz from Austria and processors such as Sauer GmbH & Co. KG rely on flustix certification. Manufacturers such as TeeFee, Henkel and Kneipp already put their trust in the flustix marks as well. “The certification of our long-standing partner Kneipp using our recyclate is an important and terrific step for us,” says Alexander Umlauf-Sauer, managing director of Sauer GmbH & Co. KG.
