Plastic regranulates for packaging made from 100 % recycled plastic

Combined seal from flustix and DIN CERTCO certifies two APK products
Berlin/Merseburg, April 2021. APK AG of Merseburg relies on independent certification by flustix RECYCLED for its recyclates. Following a successful audit, the products Mersamid® PA and Mersalen® LDPE were awarded the combined seal from flustix and DIN CERTCO. For both granulates a recyclate content of 100 % could be verified, with a mixture of post-consumer and post-industrial recyclate. The seal gives every manufacturer and company the certainty of working with verified recycled granulates. APK guarantees the highest quality, at the level of virgin plastic, and relies on Newcycling® technology to achieve it.
With the flustix RECYCLED seal, flustix provides DIN-verified certainty about the recyclate content of regranulates, regrind and flakes. Recycling companies thereby offer their customers and retail partners transparent information and spare the processing industry an audit step. Recognised certification of recyclate is becoming ever more important, because at the point of sale buyers now make their decisions on the basis of independent environmental claims. For recycling companies, declaring their products therefore means transparency – and a clear market advantage.
“We are delighted that two APK granulates have been certified with the flustix RECYCLED seal, supporting transparent communication between APK and its customers. flustix shares APK’s mission of promoting recycling instead of new plastics – in every area where that is possible. With its innovative technology, APK AG is demonstrably making an important and sustainable contribution towards a functioning circular economy,” says Malte Biss, founder of flustix.
“With its solvent-based mechanical recycling approach, APK is breaking new ground in plastics recycling. We bring together higher recyclate quality and a reduced CO2 footprint. Using our recyclates makes product-to-product loops possible – even for demanding applications such as cosmetics packaging. And all of that in certified quality,” explains Klaus Wohnig, CEO of APK AG.
APK was founded in 2008 with the aim of recovering plastic recyclate of the greatest possible purity from plastic waste. Thanks to independent certification by flustix and DIN CERTCO, APK can prove to its trading partners the authenticity and origin of its recyclates, which form an important part of the material loop. Manufacturers of flexible packaging, labels and film applications that already use Mersalen® LDPE, as well as processors relying on Mersamid® PA, therefore gain additional certainty.
The regranulates certified with flustix RECYCLED are suitable for extrusion and injection moulding applications. The Mersalen LDPE regranulates are of such high quality that they are suitable for use in packaging, right up to cosmetics packaging. This has been confirmed by reports from independent toxicologists. The Mersamid PA regranulates can be used in a wide range of injection moulding applications – from wall plugs to zips.
