flustix LESS PLASTICS

The independent seals for labelling packaging and products with strictly limited plastic

The certification scope is broad: All production stages along the supply chain can be certified, from consumer goods to products, semi-finished goods, raw materials, and packaging. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fiber-based take-away products and food contact papers
  • Packaging (fiber-based, aluminum, and other materials)
  • Textiles
  • Toys
  • Home & Garden
  • Office supplies

To clearly declare certified goods to end consumers, customers, and other stakeholders, labelling is done according to three specific categories:

TOTAL PRODUCT: This flustix seal assesses both the product and its packaging. Every component is independently tested and must meet the specific requirements to qualify for the “Total Product” certification.

PACKAGING: Packaging that is at least 95% plastic-free qualifies for the green seal, whose requirements are based on the EU regulation, PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation). The focus lies on integrating recyclability in disposal and subsequent recycling within the main material’s waste stream (e.g., waste paper stream for LESS PLASTICS certified paper packaging). To encourage innovation, a three-tiered labelling system allows declaration of plastic-free levels of at least 96.5% or 98% in the certificate and seal.

PRODUCT: This flustix seal applies to plastic-sustainable products (without packaging), and the certification requirements are based on international standards for the specific product category and material type.

→ This seal graphic shows an exemplary limit. A minimum requirement of 99.8% plastic-free is generally necessary for successful certification.

.

Limits for Fibres-based products from virgin fibres: At least 98% plastic-free, with options to declare 98.75% or 99.25% plastic-free to promote innovation.

Limits for Fibres-based products from recycled fibres: At least 97% plastic-free for successful certification.
