For YOUR Security: Revised Standards for Enhanced Compliance (EPR)
Implementation of Current and Upcoming Regulations
The flustix team and its international partners have spent the last 20 months intensively revising the flustix certification programmes to align with the latest global and European regulations, directives, and standards. These include, among others:
• The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
• The Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD)
• The Green Claims Directive (GCD)
• Additional requirements under the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT)
• Updated microplastic standards under REACH as of late 2023.
With these updates, flustix enables its licensees to label and declare products and packaging in compliance with the latest EU requirements. The foundation for this is always the internationally recognised definition of plastic. Unlike some market players who exclude elastomers from their plastic definitions, flustix operates without such exceptions. Plastic at flustix is clearly defined—no footnotes, asterisks, or loopholes—based on international standards and regulations.
Enhanced Compliance for Packaging under the PPWR
The requirements of the PPWR, including the 95/5 rule, are already integrated into flustix certification schemes. This rule states that the primary material of packaging must comprise at least 95%, with a maximum of 5% allocated to secondary or foreign materials. This ensures that packaging remains within the recycling stream of its primary material, minimising downcycling. For example, flustix LESS PLASTICS PACKAGING-certified paper packaging can be added to and recycled within the paper waste stream.
Additionally, flustix provides the required proof of compliance for recycled content and recyclability of packaging and packaging components. This allows businesses to demonstrate that their packaging meets the demands of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and national plastic taxes (e.g., in the UK, Spain, and Portugal). flustix is also a trusted partner for proving the use of recycled materials, increasingly mandated by both national and EU-wide regulations. The certification scope includes recyclates from plastic, metal, aluminium, paper/cardboard, and glass.
The flustix Product Content Microplastic-Free Seal – REACH-Compliant and Future-Proof
With the revision of its certification programmes under the updated REACH regulation (as of September 2023), flustix sets new standards for certifying microplastic-free products. This offers businesses a reliable basis for using the established flustix Microplastic-Free seal under the Green Claims Directive, where self-made labels or declarations like “formulation without microplastics” will be prohibited without recognised third-party certification.
Global Recognition and Expanded Partner Network
flustix works closely with international accredited certification partners, including DIN CERTCO (TÜV Rheinland), Control Union, Kiwa, TÜV Süd, and IGSC in South Korea, to ensure global coverage and meet the rising demand for recognised certifications. flustix’s expertise is also valued internationally, such as when invited by Environment and Climate Change Canada to contribute to the development of national sustainability regulations for recyclability, single-use plastic products, and compliance under Hong Kong’s Regulation on Disposable Plastic Products.
Legal Compliance and Consumer Trust – Globally
With certifications based on these enhanced programmes, flustix provides transparent and future-proof solutions for businesses to meet increasing regulatory compliance and rising consumer expectations for sustainability. Whether your company focuses on plastic-reduced or microplastic-free materials, uses recycled resources, or develops and utilises recyclable packaging, flustix seals offer robust certifications with tailored, clear claims to transparently communicate your sustainability efforts—independently verified and based on third-party certification.

About flustix
The organisation, founded in Berlin in 2017, offers six distinct flustix seals: The flustix LESS PLASTICS – MIN. xx% PLASTIC-FREE seals certify, in collaboration with recognised testing laboratories and accredited certification bodies, the entire product as well as either its packaging or the product itself. Products that refrain from using microplastics are transparently labelled with the PLASTIC-FREE – Product Content Microplastic-Free seal. The flustix RECYCLED – DIN geprüft seal certifies recyclates, semi-finished goods, and products with recycled content, including plastics, metals, and glass. flustix RECYCLABLE independently communicates the recyclability of packaging. The flustix seals serve as a guide for consumers and thereby support companies in pursuing a sustainability-focused business strategy and ensuring credible sustainability communication.
