Press release: eco laundry tabs from BioBaula are flustix-certified

Berlin, September 2020. Around 1.5 million tonnes of laundry, household and cleaning products are used in German households every year. The problem: these products frequently contain microplastics. As a result, more than 500 tonnes of these plastic particles pass through German drains alone every year into nature, into waters and arable soils, and via animals and plants also into our food (German Environment Agency 2015). To protect the environment it is therefore important to use ecological products for household cleaning. The flustix seal “without microplastics” helps consumers to find plastic-free articles quickly and easily. Alongside the cleaning tabs from BioBaula, already officially certified as free from microplastics, the company’s new eco laundry tabs may now also carry the white-and-blue flustix fish after successful testing and certification.

Doing the laundry without a guilty conscience

With the new eco laundry tabs from BioBaula, no microplastics enter the waste water. flustix’s independent test procedures confirm this, which is why the “without microplastics” seal now adorns the laundry tabs’ packaging. The heavy-duty detergent is equally suitable for coloured and white clothing. Each wash requires just one tab, which is placed in the drum and then dissolves inside it. flustix was also able to classify the BioBaula hygiene cleaner tabs successfully as free from microplastics.

BioBaula has relied on flustix certifications for its comprehensive household range since 2018. The eco cleaner tabs for glass, floors, kitchen and bathroom as well as the all-purpose eco cleaner tabs already all carry the consumer seal “product content without microplastics”.

The flustix seal “product content without microplastics” certifies products, in particular cosmetics and hygiene articles, that manage without microplastics. Microplastics are solid, insoluble synthetic plastics smaller than five millimetres. The certification gives customers reliable guidance for environmentally conscious shopping.
