Franziska van Almsick: swimming fun for children & environmentally friendly books with flustix

Das Buch PAUL UND PAULINA von Franziska van Almsick

What could be more wonderful than playing in the water and swimming in summer? But it is not just swimming that matters – behaving correctly in and around water is important too. That is why Franziska van Almsick and the HÄRTER children’s book publishing house have brought out the handy book “PAUL UND PAULINA – Baderegeln leicht gemacht”. In an entertaining way it explains to children how to move safely in and around the cool water, so that everyone really can have fun. Illustrated by Oscar M. Barrientos, the book was printed climate-neutrally by abcdruck in Heidelberg – without the use of plastics.

Franziska van Almsick supports flustix

That every child should learn to swim, and the protection of all bodies of water, are two subjects particularly close to swimming star Franziska van Almsick’s heart: “We must not only clean up the seas, above all we must protect them from new plastic waste – for our children,” she argues. That is why the multiple world and European champion supports the flustix initiative. Franzi continues: “With its seals, flustix marks out products that are plastic-free or made with recycled plastic – so that coming generations do not have to clear up our waste.”

The Franziska van Almsick Foundation

For years Franzi, together with her “Franziska van Almsick Foundation” and its supporters (including “familotel”), has been campaigning to make sure that truly every child in Germany masters at least one swimming stroke. Staying above water “somehow” for a few minutes is not enough – it is important that all children really feel safe in the water and can move confidently in it. So that they do not get into difficulty during other children’s perhaps boisterous games, for example.
To achieve that, the “Franziska van Almsick Foundation” cooperates with schools and teachers, public authorities and swimming pool operators. The focus is on the third and fourth school years, and children with and without special needs or disabilities are supported equally.

For clean water!

Plastic belongs in no book, and certainly not in the sea! At most it may provide some fun there – and should then please be taken out and taken home again. Otherwise the rule is clear, as “PAUL UND PAULINA” explain in the book: “Swimming aids such as air mattresses or inflatable animals do not make you safe in the water.”
For a safe and clean future, so that our children can swim among fish in clean seas as well, flustix is taking a stand – so that everyone can avoid plastic waste as early as the moment they shop.
