flustix certifies TeeFee’s 100 % rPET bottle

Why a drinks bottle made from recycled plastic is the right solution for organic tea with juice
The organic children’s food manufacturer ‚la marchante‘ wanted the most sustainable packaging possible for its sugar-free organic teas under the TeeFee brand. Searching for a handy and environmentally friendly alternative to the beverage carton, founders Marco Rühl & Jill-Evelyn Erlach decided on a plastic bottle – but not one made from newly produced plastic, rather from recycled PET.
Packaging relaunch with flustix RECYCLED
The switch in packaging for the popular TeeFee children’s drink was made for the sake of the children and the environment. The company wants to lead by example in order to create a future worth living for the next generation:
“The new rPET process gives us the opportunity to bring the valuable material PET into a sustainable material loop. That is why we changed our packaging from a beverage carton to an rPET bottle made from 100% recycled plastic. To offer our customers as much transparency as possible, we decided on certification with the flustix seal,” Erlach emphasises.
Certifying plastic recyclate
We at flustix are delighted to be able to confirm the use of recycled plastic in the new TeeFee drinks bottle and to certify it with the RECYCLED seal, developed specifically for plastic recycling. flustix has been campaigning for the reduction of new plastic since 2017 and supports companies in positioning themselves sustainably in the market. Our independent, accredited assessment strengthens buyers’ confidence, and our consumer seal offers shoppers reliable guidance. Accordingly, we state the exact share of recyclate clearly and unambiguously.

100% rPET closes the material loop
In TeeFee’s case, then, no new plastic is produced for the bottle body. rPET is obtained by shredding already used PET bottles into what is known as regranulate; those bottles are returned to the recycling stream sorted by type through the deposit system. That creates the basis for reuse as a new drinks bottle. A bottle-to-bottle loop and the most responsible way of handling existing plastic – with every step tracked by us.
The advantages of plastic recycling
flustix and TeeFee are working together for a functioning circular economy and a sustainable future. We do not regard packaging waste as rubbish but as an essential resource for something new. Recycling plastic does more than save CO2: where plastics have no alternative, we should use recyclate. Since beverage cartons are environmentally harmful and glass bottles in children’s hands are usually not ideal, we make effective use of what is already there. That way plastic waste ends up neither in nature nor in the incinerator, and the earth’s oil reserves are spared. For a world of tomorrow – for the children of today.
